It’s 50 Ways To Snap Your Mammy as Nancy is now a selfie queen

-

SHE has become a household name thanks to her hit Sky 1 series 50 Ways To Kill Your Mammy. And now Nancy Ashmawy has had to grow accustomed to daily requests for pictures and autographs from young fans.

The second season of the adventure series that features Nancy and her TV presenter son Baz kicked off last week.

The show’s latest instalment sees the pair take on more daring stunts abroad and host Baz, pictured with Nancy, told the Irish Daily Mail that the success of the show has led to mother Nancy, 72, becoming a ‘selfie queen’.

‘I was in Mum’s having a takeaway recently and the doorbell rang, so I went out and there were about 20 kids at the door,’ 40-year-old Baz said.

‘This little fella with a country accent goes: “Is Nancy there?” and I was like, “Who is asking?” so he goes, “I am, we are her biggest fans.”

‘I went down to Mum to tell her and then she went out to them to take loads of selfies.

‘I was like, “Does that happen often?” and she said it does, all the time. ‘She never told me about it before. ‘She thinks some of them come up to their cousins’ during the summer and they tell each other where she lives.’

Nancy’s proud son continued: ‘It was hilarious because I was quite narky with them, asking what they wanted and stuff, but she was so sweet to them.

‘It’s funny that this is normal for her now. It is amazing, though, that these kids are like that with her. ‘She’s brilliant with them,’ he said. Earlier this year, former 2fm presenter Baz proposed to his long-term partner Tanja Evans.

The broadcaster told the Mail the couple, who have eight children, including Tanya’s four from a previous relationship, will most likely opt for a low-key wedding – probably overseas – and there will be no magazine deals when it comes to selling the pictures.

‘It’s funny because I couldn’t believe the reaction to us being engaged,’ said Baz, speaking at the launch of the 2015 Just Eat National Takeaway Awards.

‘We are together years and I wouldn’t have thought it would have been of interest to anybody.

‘We are quite a private couple. We wouldn’t be doing any magazine deals or anything like that.’

The presenter continued: ‘For me, I give away so much of myself and family in TV stuff that I do.

‘Those little times between Tanya and me and the kids, that’s for us.

‘I’d say we will go away, maybe to Belgrade or Cairo as Tanya is half-Serbian. But I am excited.’
