RESPONSES to “Minister urges families to bond during lockdown”

This is a good initiative, but it’s a drop in the ocean given the increased gender-based violence incidences, especially in mining communities. How do we scale up such efforts? — @TafadzwaRMuropa

We need collective efforts to address this. Civil society, media, relevant Government ministries, religious and traditional leaders. Awareness raising should be done at all levels: media, communities and churches. GBV response centres must also be set up in areas without one-stop centres. — @EkeniaT

Many thanks to UNFPA Zimbabwe for partnering with @ ZWwomensmed and @advc_zim in supporting our GBV survivors at one stop centres with dignity kits. — @EkeniaT.

RESPONSE to “Covid-19 has just begun to attack Zimbabwe and the spike is beginning to show an upward trend”.

We introduced a lockdown some two weeks ago, but we are realising that the pandemic is now more serious than at the time we introduced the lockdown. There is need to extend the lockdown by two weeks. — @NyashadzasheM13.

This is scary. Let us continue to practice social distancing. We need to work together as a country to ensure the cases decrease. We should put an end to local transmission of Covid19. — Carol.

People should observe lockdown rules, period. I see people visiting each other’s homes during this lockdown period and wonder which planet they are from. Why can’t people just be patient? There will be a time to see each other soon. — Maria.

We need at least 5 000 just to be prepared if more cases are reported. In the meantime, people should practice more social distancing to ensure there are no local transmissions of Covid-19. — Jangati.

People should just stay at home and we will not need all these beds. Please stay at home for your own good Zimbabweans. — Racheal.

Maize-meal shortages are being caused by supermarkets that give first preference to their friends and relatives. I am tired of the corrupt ways through which the maize-meal is being sold. — Tamuka.

As winter approaches, let us all stay warm to avoid colds and flu. Let us stay safe and keep our children and the elderly warm. Let’s also stay at home and practice good hygiene. Wash your hands with soap and water, sanitise and keep good social distance. — Yemurai, Hatfield.
