UFIC gives prisoners early Christmas

- Munyaradzi Doma in ZVISHAVANE

INMATES at Zvishavane Prison were treated to an early Christmas after United Family International Church led by Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa distributed food items during commemorations of the family week.

Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service Midlands provincial spokesperson Chief Correctional Officer Jere Ruzive said this was part of their preparation of inmates for reintegration into the society.

“We as ZPCS had a family week from September 30 to October 8 to give relatives of inmates more time with their incarcerated relatives, church organisations and companies, as we celebrated African Correctional and Prison Day,” he said.

“We are preparing inmates for release or reintegration and as such when we invite churches to prison for the family week, we want to maintain those family ties.”

Head of UFIC Zvishavane branch Pastor Simbarashe Duncan said he had been sent by Prophet Makandiwa to extend a loving hand to the inmates.

He said it was in Prophet Makandiwa’s heart to share with the seemingly lost and forgotten members of society.

“Being in prison does not mean that someone no longer has hope,” said Pastor Duncan. “Inmates are encouraged to use the time to start reorganising their lives and give their lives to Jesus so that as soon as they are out of prison, Jesus can lead them through their new journey.”
