VETERAN BROADCASTER FRANK MUTUBILA HONOURED
VETERAN broadcaster and managing director for Capital FM radio, Frank Mutubila was among the people who were honoured at State House by President Hakainde Hichilema during the investiture ceremony.
Mr. Mutubila was awarded for his immense contribution to the media industry for 52 years.
Mr. Mutubila joined Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation formerly Zambia Broadcasting Services in 1970 shortly after completing his secondary school education as a radio announcer.
He rose to the position of producer and later on was promoted to the position of Director of Programmes.
During his broadcasting career, Mr. Mutubila mentored some journalists so that the latter could perfect the art of journalism.
This is not a mean achievement and the veteran broadcaster deserved to be honoured for the service he has rendered to the country.
Mr. Mutubila under the Patriotic Front served as Ambassador to Italy for three years but this did not affect his broadcasting career.
Another person who was honoured during the investiture ceremony is Fumba Chama, the activist and musician.
Mr. Chama aged 38 was honoured for the role he played in promoting human rights and championing the fight against injustice and corruption through his music talent when his life was in danger.
Mr. Chama was attacked by some political cadres and he was even arrested. This happened last year.
The colourful investiture ceremony at State House was graced by President of Namibia Dr. Hage Geingob.
Dr. Geingob eulogised the first President of Zambia, late Dr. Kenneth David Kaunda. This was in recognition of Dr. Kaunda’s significant role he played by ensuring that Africa was liberated.
