Brace for hard times, Wusakile MP urges youths

- By ROGERS KALERO

ZAMBIANS, particularly youths must brace themselves for hard times by being innovative and grasping every opportunity given to them or else it will be difficult to survive the tough times the country was going through, Wusakile Member of Parliament Pavyuma Kalobo has said.

Kalobo said life was getting harder every day and so youths must find ways of surviving through sports and various initiatives, noting that only the fittest shall survive in a situation where life was hard.

He was speaking during the Pavyuma Kalobo Independence Day Sports Tournament held at Nkana Stadium to mark the country’s 58th independence anniversary.

Football, netball, pool, chess, draught were some of the sports disciplines which were represent at the tournament which was organised and sponsored by the

MP.

He said his interest to sponsor sports tournaments during the independence celebrations was to bring youths together and also help identify their individual talents.

“At this tournament, there is no winner and there is no loser because the whole idea is to bring youths together and possibly identify your individual talents so that you can take your talents to greater heights. Yes, take your talents to greater heights.

“Life is hard and so utilise your opportunities to reach far. Be prepared for hard times. They say only the brave will walk into the most feared forest. They also say when the going gets tough, the tough get going. So Zambians, particularly the youth must brace themselves for harder times,’’ Kalobo said.

In football, Nkana Rising emerged the winners after beating Chibote Pirates 5-4 on post-match penalties, where 13 teams participated.
