Pathfinders impress Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises
YOUTHS have been encouraged to ob tains skills which can help better their future as well as contribute to national development.
The Minister of Small and Medium, Elias Mubanga said this when he visited a skills camp site and toured the classes at Mwembezhi Secondary that includ ed among others, plumbing, domestic house wiring, baking, barbing, bricklay ing, tiling, farming, hair plaiting, painting and mechanics.
Over 2000 Pathfinders and Counselors are taking part in the camping for at the Skills Camp.
This is according to a press statement released by Innocent Siachitoba, Com munication Chairperson, Lusaka Confer ence Adventist Youth Ministries.
The Minister was impressed by the presentations made by the Pathfinders whilst touring the learning points.
Mr Mubanga said he was impressed with the level of organization and qual ity of the skills that have been offered at the camp by the Conference youth leadership.
“I was left speechless when I went through and heard what the Pathfinders were able to explain. More especially the little girl (Ndibali) that spoke of baking using traditional ovens,” He joyfully said.
He also told the youths of how the Gov ernment wants the youths to learn skills stating that “In doing so, my Ministry has partnered with the Ministry of Education in training children life skills.”
The Minister has since called on the children to keep up with the skills as it has potential to make them great business men and women adding that in so doing they will find a way to a better future that will shape their destiny and make Zambia great.
He has assured the church of the gov ernment commitment in having such trainings, further urging other church to emulate what the Lusaka Conference is doing in training the young people.
Meanwhile, Pastor Prince Ng’andu, the Guest Speaker and also the Executive Secretary for South Zambia Conference thanked the Minister for coming to the Skills Camp.
“We are happy that you made time for the youths and came to visit us in camp.”
And speaking on behalf of Pathfind ers, Matinah Namusokwe, an 11 year old called on the government to see to it that the Skills Training Institute is built in Shibuyunji where the government through District Commissioner’s office has promised them land to build the skills centre.
