Socialist Party bars media from launch
As the Journalists from the two institutions were about to enter where the venue of the launch, cadres manning the gate politely informed them that they had strict instructions from their superiors not to allow any Journalist apart from the friendly media.
“Especially you from Daily Nation, we need to find out if you are welcome here,” said one cadre before disappearing inside where the launch was taking place.
After waiting for some few minutes, the cadre returned with a supposedly senior official who affirmed and told the Journalists to leave.
Meanwhile, Journalist cum politician Fred M’membe has accused some political parties in the country of being funded by some unscrupulous elements who are pumping in a lot of money to control them.
Mr M’membe who is Socialist Party 2021 Presidential candidate was speaking in Lusaka yesterday during the launch of the party manifesto ahead of the general elections next year.
He accused the PF Government of buying motor vehicles, Presidential jet, building roads and toll gates at exorbitant prices.
Mr M’membe said some parties in the country are owned and controlled by unscrupulous elements and claimed that it was only his party that was owned by Zambians.
“All sorts of unscrupulous elements are pumping in a lot of money in the leading capitalist parties of this country – they own and control them. But they don’t own and control the Socialist Party. The humble workers, peasants and the working intellectuals own the Socialist Party,” he claimed.
He said once voted into office next year, the Socialist Party was going to bring fundamental changes to the country by promoting a just society anchored on economic, social and political justice.
