Support progressive bills, Tutwa urges opposition

- By ANNIE ZULU

THE opposition should work with the ruling party in supporting progressive Bills for the betterment of the country,” deputy chief whip Tutwa Ngulube has said. And Mr Ngulube has lauded leader of the opposition and Monze Central Member of Parliament Jack Mwiimbu for supporting the Electricity Bill and the Energy Regulation Bill. He said the country was headed for greatness if the UPND supports Bills Government takes to Parliament. The Deputy Chief Whip said this when adding his voice to the Electricity Bill and the Energy Regulation Bill in Parliament yesterday. “I also hope that the UPND can now get to reality and support everything progressive. I hope it is a promise and we hope to move together in developing this nation,” Mr Ngulube said. He noted that it was sad that the UPND saw everything Government did as a PF agenda “Matters of energy affect us equally regardless of political party, so let us avoid dividing this country in terms of political lines. In order to develop the country we must stop splitting this country on political lines. No political party lives forever,” he said. Mr Ngulube also indicated that if Parliament did not resolve to protect the citizens; Zambians would continue suffering regardless of political parties they belonged to. He also urged the UPND to support everything positive Government was doing, including Bill number 10. He however, stated that his party would never support repugnant Bills like Bill number 10.
