Union backs screening of qualifications
CALLS to scrutinise qualifications of civil servants by the Civil Service Commission have been hailed.
National Union for Public and Private Educators of Zambia (NUPPEZ) General Secretary Nelson Mwale said the move to screen the results and qualifications of civil servants was welcome.
Mr. Mwale said the decision to screen teachers’ results and qualifications should also extend to other ministries and departments if Zambia was to have a clean system.
He stated that for any country to achieve economic growth, it needs to have an educated body of leadership with valid qualifications that would reflect in the execution of their duties.
This, he said, would help the country to progress instead of going backwards or at the same place.
“It is our hope that come 2018 all the civil servants from various institutions will have their results and qualifications scrutinised,” Mr. Mwale said.
He stated that once the Civil Service Commission cleans up the system, the Zambian economy will experience efficiency and effectiveness in the duties executed by its workers.
Mr. Mwale noted that fake qualifications do not only hinder the progress of an economy but also prevent other people with real documents and experience from attaining employment and making a difference in the country.
