-

With sadness we announce the passing of Mark Ericson on June 19, 2022. Mark entered this world on November 13,1952 in San Diego, CA. He was raised in the Lutheran Church until graduating from Helix H.S. in 1970. He then moved to Yuma, as to attend Arizona Western College. After A.W.C. Mark moved on to Flagstaff where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics at N.A.U. and became an avid runner and completed 21 marathons including Boston in 2000. He was elected and had the honor of being a 1996 Olympic Torch Bearer across Yuma.

Mark's teaching career started at Yuma H.S. mostly in geometry classes and for 5 years was the department chair. He was a finalist for the 2008 Teacher of the Year Award. Many students from other math classes would frequently ask Mr. Ericson for additional help because he could explain processes to them in a manner they could better understand. His staff looked up to him with respect and he was an excellent teacher with a terrific sense of humor.

Mark was voted into the Caballeros de Yuma in 2007 and by 2010 had earned the "Caballero Del Año" award. He was also a 24 yr member of the Yuma Elks Lodge 476.

Mark is survived by his wife of 32 years Lynnae Ericson, sister Karla Dongog, son Joshua Ericson, son Trevor Ericson, daughter Ashley Sealock(Ryan), 7 grandchildren and cousin Judy Sanders.
