During the week of Dec. 2-8, the Yuma Fire Department responded to 343 emergency calls for service.
• 14 General Fire Responses
Including: 2 for leaking propane tanks, a trash fire in a bathroom, 2 cooking fires, 1 for sparks from a bathroom vent fan, 1 for a house fire, and various alarms
• 30 Motor Vehicle Crashes
Including: 3 involving pedestrians, 3 rollovers, 2 reported as head-on, 3 involving motorcycles, 1 involving a house, 1 involving a pole, 1 involving a bicycle, 1 involving a jack-knifed semi on I-8, and 3 involving 3 or more vehicles
• 268 Other Medical Emergencies (serious to minor)
Including: 33 for difficulty breathing, 17 for chest pain, 47 for falls, 17 for unconscious people, 8 seizure cases, 3 possible stroke cases, 4 for intoxicated persons, 2 for persons under the influence of drugs, 3 for drug overdoses, 21 for people with psychiatric problems, 3 for medical alarms, 1 for children locked in a vehicle, 1 for choking, 15 for altered or decreased level of consciousness, 2 for fevers, 3 for broken bones, 4 for diabetic emergencies, 1 for spider bites, 7 for man down calls, 4 for uncontrolled bleeding, 3 for bad headaches, 5 for assaults, 3 for back pain, 15 for abdominal pain, 2 pregnancy related, 4 for deceased persons, 2 for lacerations, 1 for an amputated finger, 1 for a child stuck in a park swing, 1 for 8 juveniles who were possibly exposed to drugs in brownies, and other illnesses and injuries
