Don’t forget to take a few moments to vote today, Yuma
Today, Yumans have a chance to make a difference, and it only takes about 10 minutes of your day.
It’s primary election day, with federal, state, county and municipal races on the ballot.
Voters will decide today which candidates advance to the Nov. 6 general election, and which candidates are out of the race.
San Luis, Somerton and Wellton all have city or town council primaries today.
At the county level, races include clerk of the superior court, judicial divisions 2,3,5 and 6, justices of the peace no. 1-3, and constables no. 1-3.
Races at the state level include District 13 Senate and House of Representatives, which are being closely watched in Yuma County, as well as governor, secretary of state, attorney general and superintendent of public instruction.
And at the federal level, one of Arizona’s U.S. Senate seats and U.S. House of Representative seats for our two congressional districts (Districts 3 and 4) are on the ballot.
Voters in Yuma County can cast a vote at any one of the following locations:
• Yuma Civic Center, 1440 W. Desert Hills Drive, Yuma
• St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 11545 E. 40th St., Yuma (Foothills area)
• Martin Luther King Jr., Neighborhood Center, 300 S. 13th Ave., Yuma
• Yuma County Health Department, 2200 W. 28th St., Yuma
• Community Christian Church, 6480 E. Highway 95, Yuma
• First Southern Baptist Church of Wellton, 11711 Williams St., Wellton • Somerton Library, W. 240 Canal St., Somerton • Cesar Chavez Cultural Center, 1015 N. Main St., San Luis • San Luis Library, 1075 N. 6th Ave., San Luis If you have an early ballot, drop it off at the Yuma County Recorder’s Office today so your vote can be counted.
Polls open at 6 a.m. today and close at 7 p.m., so there is plenty of time to stop by any one of the polling sites and take part in one of our greatest roles in our democracy.
