YRMC offers host of outpatient services
Editor’s note: While last week’s story focused on Yuma Regional Medical Center’s recruitment efforts for the entire county, this week’s story considers how YRMC is more than a hospital, with a whole host of outpatients services available to the community.
While it’s considered a hospital, Yuma Regional Medical Center is much more than a traditional hospital. It provides a significant amount of outpatient healthcare services, such as primary care, specialty care, diagnostic imaging, laboratory services, x-rays and physical therapy.
Years ago, YRMC set out to provide a whole host of services outside of the hospital so patients wouldn’t have to travel far away to receive the “high quality, compassionate medical care.”
“I call it a hospital, but it would be appropriate to call it a health system. We’re much more than just a hospital. We are a hospital and we do that very well, but I venture to say that half of the work we do both in effort and financially comes from our outpatient environment,” President and CEO Robert Trenschel said.
One of the goals for YRMC is to take care of the patient from birth to death. The list of outpatients services is impressive: allergy, asthma, immunology, arthritis, cancer care, children’s care, diabetic and endocrinology, family medicine, emergency care, imaging and radiology, heart and vascular care, neurology, surgery, laboratory services, women’s health, orthopedics, thoracic and lung, rehabilitative services, wound care and weight loss surgery.
Ricci Sanchez, vice president clinical services lines and ambulatory care, calls it the “future of health centers,” noting today’s hospitals manage all these services for patients.
To make it convenient for patients to receive the specialized care they need, YRMC operates a series of specialty clinics in one centrally located office complex. Yuma
