Road Report
16th Street and 4th Avenue
Work to widen and improve the 16th Street and 4th Avenue intersection is underway. One lane of through traffic will remain open in each direction. Right turn restrictions remain in place for large trucks and semitrailers. Access the Yuma Mesa Shopping Center via northbound 4th Avenue or eastbound 16th Street; left turns in and out of the center will be prohibited from this point forward.
The city asks all motorists to plan ahead and obey the reduced speed limit. Those using residential streets as detour routes are asked to respect the 25 mph speed limit and be attentive for children and pets. While business access will be maintained at all times, those seeking through traffic routes may wish to avoid the construction zone, using roads such as 24th Street, 8th Street, or 32nd Street for eastwest through traffic, and Arizona Avenue, Avenue A, Pacific Avenue, or Avenue B for north-south through traffic.
Interstate 8 and Giss Parkway — ADOT
An Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) project to improve the interchange area of westbound Interstate 8 and Giss Parkway is scheduled to begin in March, and will take approximately seven months to complete. Work will also improve drainage, intersection lighting, signage and lane striping. Additionally, “Share the Road” signs will be installed to make accommodations for cyclists. Access to businesses near the work zone will be maintained during construction. Closures of the I-8 westbound ramps are to be expected while work is underway. Drivers will be asked to use alternate routes, including the 16th Street exit. The speed limit in the work zone will be reduced. Drivers should watch for construction personnel and equipment, and obey all posted speed limits and signs.

Magnolia Avenue, 3rd Street to Colorado Street
A partial closure along Magnolia Avenue will be needed for shoulder work along the roadway from 3rd Street to Colorado Street, and then east to 9th Avenue, as crews access a manhole to pull a fiber cable through an existing conduit. Work is to be completed by May 26. Traffic control signs will be posted in the work zones as crews move throughout the area. Additionally, there will be no parking permitted along some sidewalks near the work zone while crews are in the area.
Highway 95, Avenue 2E-7E

Work is expected to take place Monday through March 31. Signs will be posted near the work zone to alert approaching traffic of the lane closure and shifts in traffic flow.
Araby Road, I-8 waterline relocation
A project to relocate a waterline on Araby Road near its intersection with Interstate-8 will begin Monday and finish in June. More details regarding changes to traffic in the area will be released when they become available.

The project is anticipated to be complete in late summer.
Avenue 3E/U.S. 95
A nine-month project to widen and improve both U.S. 95 and Avenue 3E is currently underway. Drivers are asked to be aware that no left turns are permitted at Highway 95, though left and right turns onto Highway 95 from northbound Avenue 3E are permitted. The north section of Avenue 3E at the intersection is closed to traffic.
The $3.2 million project will widen both roads to five lanes and to include a turn lane. Work will take place on Avenue 3E from north of the Interstate 8 interchange to past the U.S. 95 intersection, as well as on U.S. 95 from about 500 feet west of the Avenue 3E intersection to just past the Araby Road intersection. Both roads are expected to remain open with lane restrictions in place while the project is underway. Drivers are asked to find alternate routes to avoid potential delays. The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) will maintain access to businesses in the work zone and keep both roadways open during construction. The project is scheduled to be completed by August.
1st Avenue, 13th-14th streets

There will be no parking permitted along 20th Street between Arizona Avenue and Kennedy Lane while the project is underway. Traffic traveling in either direction on 20th Street is to keep to the right.

The bridge is going in at milepost 34, approximately 12 miles northeast of Yuma and 10 miles south of the turnoff (Imperial Dam Road) to Yuma Proving Ground. Crews are scheduled to work weekdays between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. Motorists should allow extra travel time as lane restrictions will be in place and flaggers will occasionally need to alternate traffic through the work zone.
