Gentry teams defeat Greenland, lose to Lincoln

GENTRY — The Lady Pioneers faced a strong pack of Lady Wolves at Lincoln High School on Friday and came up short, losing 41-39 in the conference matchup.

It was 25-19, Lincoln, at the half; but Gentry came back to make it 31-30, Gentry, after three. In the final quarter, Gentry picked up another eight points, but Lincoln picked up 11 and the two-point victory.

Chastery Fuamatu led Gentry on the scoreboard­s with 18. Hannah Boss had 10, and Madison Ward six. Gentry 55, Greenland 38

Things went much better for the Gentry girls on Jan. 9 when they hosted the Lady Pirates of Greenland.

Even though the Lady Pirates were up 15-10 at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Pioneers played a strong second quarter behind the shooting of Hannah Boss and Chastery Fuamatu and regained the lead, 31-19.

By the end of the third quarter, Gentry was up by a score of 46-28. The Lady Pirates outscored the Lady Pioneers, 10-9, in the final quarter but Gentry maintained the lead and a 17-point victory, with the final being Gentry 66 and Greenland 38.

Boss had 21 points in the game and Fuamatu had 18. Kya DeZurik had nine, all of them three-pointers.

BOYS

The Gentry boys defeated Greenland on Jan. 9 by a score of 47-39 but fell to Lincoln, 61-33.
