James Allen Bates

James Allen Bates, 55, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016, in Sulphur Springs.

He was born Dec. 29, 1960, in Grove, Okla., the son of Elvarie Blackford Bates and Earnest ( Joe) Bates. He worked at the Gravette Shelling Plant from 1977 to 1982, worked on lawnmowers and loved picking up walnuts. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Southwest City, Mo., and loved going to church. He also enjoyed having visitors and receiving cards in the mail.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Ernest, Johnny, Dannie and Robert Bates; and one sister, Norma ( Toots) Hodges.

He is survived by two brothers, Donald and Albert Bates; and four sisters, Christina Ray, Rosalie Bruner, Betty Carpenter and Bonnie Mason.

Memorial services were held at the First Baptist Church in Southwest City on Oct. 10. Cremation was by Ozark Funeral Home of Southwest City. Burial will be held later at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Hiwasse.

Cora Moon Follbaum

Memorial services for Cora Moon Follbaum, 19, of Gravette, who died Sept. 30, at her home, will be held Saturday, Oct. 22. Services will be held from 12 noon until 1 p.m. at Old Town Park in Gravette. This was Cora’s favorite place to play as a child.

Tommie H. Ingram

Tommie H. Ingram, 62, of Marysville, Wash., died Sept. 30, 2016, at his home in Marysville.

He was born Oct. 10, 1953, in Stillwater, Okla., to Floyd and Betty (Beck) Ingram. He served in both the U.S. Army and Navy.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Survivors include his father, Floyd Ingram of Skiatook, Okla.; three daughters, Alina Renee, Jamie Lynn and Misti Lynn; brothers, Gerald Ingram and wife Arlie of Perla, Neal Ingram and wife Susan of Gillette, Wyo.; sisters, Donna Cook and husband Raymond of Colcord, Okla., Janice Hudgens and husband Ronnie of Madisonvil­le, Tenn.; and six grandchild­ren.

Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 7, at Wasson Funeral Home Chapel, Siloam Springs, with Garfield Clarke, Mark Evans and Donna Cook officiatin­g. Burial followed at Dickson Cemetery, Cherokee City, with arrangemen­ts by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Elvin L. Rankin

Elvin L. Rankin, 88, of Gentry, died October 7, 2016, in Siloam Springs. Born May 28, 1928, in Stilwell, Okla., he was the son of Marvin Rankin and Liddie Co leman Rankin. Elvin married Dorothy Speed on June 11, 1952, in Siloam Springs and loved her faithfully for over 60 years. During the Korean Conflict, he served in the U.S. Air Force as an AP prop mechanic balancing airplane props. In the late 1950s, Elvin co-owned Rankin-Walker Automatic Transmissi­on Service located on East Main in Siloam Springs. Elvin was a cattleman in the Gentry area for 63 years. He enjoyed old time country music, Sunday dinners with family and friends at La Hacienda II, teasing his grandkids and swapping stories with friends over coffee at McDonald’s in Gentry and Cafe on Broadway in Siloam Springs. He and his two year old greatgrand­son, Dean Wimberly, shared a special bond and a mutual love for horses.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Rankin; one daughter, Sharon Rankin; one sister, Viola Walker; and two brothers, B.J. Rankin and Ore Lee Rankin.

He is survived by one daughter, Glenda Manos and husband Larry of Siloam Springs; two sons, Larry and Gary Rankin of Gentry; seven grandchild­ren: Traci Letellier and husband Casey, Corrie Wimberly and husband Brandon, Amy Mayberry and husband Scott, Angie Kirkpatric­k, Jerred Rankin and wife Kayla, Nathan Amos and wife Vilgen, and Regina Amos; and eight great grandchild­ren: Boyd Wimberly, Dean Wimberly, Stone Mayberry, Briar Mayberry, Jaxon Milsap, Presley Kirkpatric­k, Astralia Roman, and Asia Amos.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at Siloam Springs Bible Church, with Brother Wayne Thomas of Kind at Heart Ministries officiatin­g.
