Hopes for two possible businesses locating in Wapakoneta have been dashed, but members of the Wapakoneta Area Economic Development Council have their collective fingers crossed regarding another company, WAEDC executive director Kathy Keller said the manufacturing company interested in a site n the West Central Ohio Industrial Park “is considering moving ahead and intends to have a decision made by the end of January.” The company would need about eight acres of land-and board members learned the company is also considering Allen County as a location site. A steel mill operation has eliminated Wapakoneta as a possibility, and a pet food manufacturer has decided to locate in another region of the state. Rex Katterheinrich, safety-service director, revealed that the former company was AK Steel.
