TOP 5 PROSPECTS

- Chris Blessing

1. Wander Franco, SS: Franco is a switch-hitting phenom who destroyed rookie ball with a .351 batting average and 11 home runs in 242 at-bats. Just 17, he already has an advanced approach with elite contact skills, advanced barrel control and a knack for hard contact.

2. Brent Honeywell, RHP: Honeywell, 23, was poised for his major league debut before missing the entire season after Tommy John surgery. He’s best known for a plus-plus screwball that he pairs with a solid two-seam fastball, a plus changeup and an above-average slider. He could reach the majors.

3. Brendan McKay, LHP-1B: A twoway player, McKay is a better pitcher for most scouts with three plus-or-better pitches. He posted a 2.48 ERA with 103 strikeouts in 781⁄3 innings. The 23-yearold has plus-plus power but struggles to reach it in games. The pitching is ready for Class AA; the hitting might not be.

4. Jesus Sanchez, OF: Sanchez, 21, has above-average tools across the board. He is an aggressive hitter with quick wrists and strong forearms but struggles expanding the zone. Sanchez hit just .214 with 1 home run in 98 at-bats after a promotion to Class AA.

5. Vidal Brujan, 2B: A contact-oriented switch hitter, Brujan hit .320 with 55 steals across two levels of Class A last year. At 20, he has room to grow into his body without compromising the run tool. His power is tied to exploiting middle-in pitches with 15-22 homers at maturity.
