PRINCETON >> On the second night of a back to back, sometimes you need your role players to give you a lift.

Tip your cap to Jerome Desrosiers and Ryan Schwieger

That duo combined for 24 points and 12 rebounds to help Princeton knock off Columbia, 79-61, at Jadwin Gym on Saturday night and sweep a pair of games this weekend.

Desrosiers, who came in averaging 5.1 points, finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Schwieger scored a team-high 20. Schwieger has reached 20 points in both games this weekend.

The victory propelled the Tigers (15-8, 7-3) to a third consecutive victory and into a secondplace tie with Harvard in the Ivy standings.

Myles Stephens added 15 for Princeton, which once again played without leading scorer Devin Cannady (personal reason). Center Richmond Aririguzoh was also saddled with foul trouble and ended up with two points in 14 minutes.

The Tigers pulled in front with a 13-3 push to end the first half and opened the lead up to double digits by the 13:23 mark of the second half on a Desrosiers 3-pointer.

Schwieger’s 3 with 8:42 remaining gave the home team a 14-point advantage.

Despite its last-place standing in the conference, Columbia has been anything but a pushover. The Lions were coming off an overtime victory at the Palestra on Friday night, and four of their league losses are by two points or less.

Gabe Stefanini scored 18 points for the Lions (7-17, 2-8).
