Julia Johnson Hilliard was born on November 10,

1924 in Snead Florida to the late Clarence Johnson and Tomi Ellis. She departed this earth to be with her Heavenly Father on April 15, 2018 at Capital Health System, Hopewell Campus.

Julia married her husband, James Hilliard in 1950 and the two moved to Trenton, NJ. Julia gave her life to Christ at an early age and got up every morning to walk the streets of Trenton, up until her late seventies, preaching the gospel of Jesus and encouragin­g others to receive him as their Lord and Savior.

Julia was known for her amazing cooking, including her fried chicken and sweet potato pies, and helping others. For almost 40 years she served as the city’s unofficial daycare lady, babysittin­g and raising children. She loved GOD, her family, helping others, cooking, boxing, trips to Englishtow­n and Columbus flea markets and watching her “stories.”

Predecease­d in death by her husband James A. Hilliard, her children Marietta and Jacob Hilliard, great grandson Omar Hightower and siblings Clarence, Sherman, Jimmy Johnson and Charles, James “JD” and Franklin Ellis, Julia leaves to cherish her memory 7 children; Joseph (Doris) Robinson, Victoria (Leon) Alexander, Margo (Charlie) James, Nancy, Alice, Tynnetta and Jai-meta (Meeche) Hilliard of Trenton, NJ; sister Trudie Evans of Los Angeles, California and sister in laws Edith Johnson of Trenton, NJ and Linda Ellis of Houston, Texas.

Julia also leaves behind 22 grandchild­ren, 72 great and great great grandchild­ren, in addition to countless nieces, nephews, cousins and surrogate children and grandchild­ren that she’s helped to raise throughout the years.

Funeral service will be 10am Monday, April 23, 2018 at the Lighthouse Outreach Ministry 715 Bellevue Ave. Trenton, NJ. Calling hours will be 8am until time of service at the church. Interment Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Vet. Mem. Cem. Arneytown, NJ. Arrangemen­ts are by the Hughes Funeral Home.
