Heroin, Pot and Spit: Victor Taveras, 23, was arrested Monday after detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit found him in possession of 39 decks of heroin and two grams of marijuana. Officials say detectives were conducting an operation in the 100 block of North Broad Street around 10 a.m. when they saw Taveras engage in alleged drug deal with others. While being searched and processed at police headquarters, officials say, Taveras hit a detective and spit in another’s face. Taveras is charged with aggravated assault on law enforcement, throwing bodily fluid on law enforcement, resisting arrest and drug offenses.

Shooting Arrest: Shamour Thomas, 23, was arrested Monday in connection with a shooting that happened over the weekend. Officials say Thomas is the person who pistol-whipped and shot a 22-year-old man in the hand Saturday evening near Riverview Cemetery. Police say Thomas and the victim know each other, but the motive for the assault remains under investigation. Thomas is charged with aggravated assault and related weapons offenses.

Crack, Pot and Pills: Shatwan Liverman, 20, was arrested Monday evening after police allegedly found him in possession of 10 grams of crack cocaine, eight grams of marijuana and an Oxycodone pill. Officials say detectives from the Street Crimes Unit saw Liverman standing in front of a home on Middle Rose Street, and that he tried to discard the drugs when he noticed cops. Low-Speed Chase: Ezequiel Dejesus, 39, was arrested early Tuesday morning after he allegedly led police on a low-speed car chase that turned into a brief foot pursuit. Officials say detectives attempted a motor vehicle stop around 1:15 a.m. after seeing a car that matched the description of a vehicle that was used in a shooting. Instead of stopping when he saw police lights, officials say, Dejesus led cops on a fiveminute car pursuit, before parking the vehicle and fleeing on foot. Cops eventually apprehended him after a brief foot chase and allegedly found a hypodermic needle when they searched Dejesus, who was also wanted in connection with outstanding warrants.
