Trenton Transit Center remains a treasure trove for writing ideas and information.

Thursday morning again delivered as a group of Cairn University students flooded the train station.

Cairn University, formerly called Philadelphia Biblical University, located in Langhorne, Pa., remains a viable education experience since opening in 1913.

A young Cairn coed landed a seat nearby and we shared a one minute conversation.

A smile overmatched her diminutive stature as she voiced excitement about her day and life.

First time in Trenton. First time headed to New York. First visit ever to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

And all the way from San Jose! That’s living.

Her exuberance produced visions of my son, a freshman at university enjoying similar days of freedom, young adulthood plus all the accoutrements of life.

And firsts. His will be different than his Cairn University peer but hopefully they enjoy this special time and establish bravery in their new worlds.

Of course, the mention of San Jose delivered memories of Dionne Warwick and that famous “Do You Know The Way to San Jose” tune written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David.

Witnessed Warwick in concert decades back at the Latin Casino in Cherry Hill. Warwick, a songbird, performed while pregnant.

Old timers from South Jersey and Philadelphia just recalled a moment at the Latin Casino, where worldclass acts performed in a venue that did not include game tables.

The Cairn University contingent kept growing until there were about 60 or more, all on this great adventure.

Mystery girl discussed her interest in an Old Testament exhibit.

She showed enough interest to find The Trentonian website on her iPhone.

“I’m an English major. I’ll check out some of your stuff,” she said.

It’s difficult to imagine the world getting worse but then again we live on this planet packed with humans who choose hate over love.

Shame occurs regarding U.S. racial strife, that children will face off again, victims of our inability to resolve issues of color.

The U.S. drowns in world embarrassment as our democracy fails to deliver on many promises regarding equality, plus, pursuits of life, liberty and happiness.

Any way, a minute with a starryeyed student allowed for a silent prayer that she will represent God in her life, distance herself from bigotry, bias and hate.

By the way, Warwick passed on another Bacharach/David song titled “What the World Needs Now.”

In 1965, Jackie DeShannon made the song a hit before Warwick followed with her version.

The song offers a universal solution to most problems.

Love, sweet love.
