TRENTON » Could the Thunder get a Big Red boost for the Eastern League playoffs?

Clint Frazier worked out at Arm & Hammer Park prior to Saturday night’s game against Reading.

Frazier, on the disabled list since Aug. 10 with a left oblique strain, hit in the cages and did some light throwing on the field. He didn’t get a chance to run the bases due to inclement weather.

“He’s here working out,” Thunder manager Bobby Mitchell said. “We did some stuff on the field, but we couldn’t run the bases like we thought we would.”

Mitchell added Frazier is scheduled to remain in Trenton for the next three days and could go with the team to Binghamton and rehab during the first round playoff series against the Rumble Ponies.

The Yankees, however, may have to alter their plans after Aaron Hicks re-injured his oblique during Saturday’s victory over the Red Sox.

“Who knows what is going to happen,” Mitchell said.

Frazier, 22, is batting .243/.274/.477 with four homers and 17 RBIs in 28 games for the Yankees.

Garrett Cooper, another big leaguer working his way back from injury, was scratched from the lineup due to illness and was not at the ballpark on Saturday night. Mitchell said Cooper was resting indoors.

On the DL since Aug. 17, Cooper has played five times for the Thunder as he return from left hamstring tendinitis. He’s 6-for-16 with a homer and pair of RBIs.
