Souderton hits high gear in win over CB South

FRANCONIA >> The top six batters in Souderton Area’s lineup all had hits Thursday against Central Bucks South, as Big Red went swinging into the second half of their division schedule.

“Our bats are how we win games,” said the Indians’ Riley York. “When we get them going, we’re doing well.”

York, batting cleanup, reached base all four times she was at the plate, helping the Indians pound out a 7-2 victory over the Titans in a Suburban One League Colonial Division game.

Souderton upped its division mark to 4-2 on the year, with

“We had some solid hits, a very good day batting wise,” Big Red coach Carol Atkinson said. “We put some nice bunts down and did very well.”

The Indians struck quickly, with Megan Kummery drawing a walk and coming in to score on an er2ror by South.

Souderton made it 2-0 in the third, when York singled and later scored on a wild pitch by Titan starter Madison Borowski.

this pitcher before so we knew what she threw, but she was really hitting her corners well today. So I had to adjust after my first at-bat.”

York drew a bases-loaded walk in the fourth, widening the gap to 3-0 on a cool, breezy day at Souderton. Ryan Zimmerman, who had three RBI for Big Red, drove in Gail Hartman (walk), boosting the lead to 4-0.

In the sixth, an RBI single by York helped break it open. Zimmerman followed by driving in two.

Along with the consistent flow of offense, Souderton’s defense was rock solid.
