Teenager dies after double stabbing
Both victims were taken to the hospital by other partygoers
A double stabbing at a large party in the Santa Ana River bottom over the weekend claimed the life of a 19-yearold Riverside resident, the Riverside Police Department said Wednesday.
Raul Saldana was identified as the victim in the stabbing after succumbing to his injuries at a local hospital, police said. The other victim was treated for non-life-threatening wounds.
On Sunday about 1:22 a.m., officers responded to a local hospital after two stabbing victims were brought to the emergency room.
An investigation determined a fight broke out in the river bottom area beneath the 60 Freeway and Market Street at a large party attended by “hundreds to thousands of people,” according to Officer Ryan Railsback, a spokesman for the department.
Both victims were taken to the hospital by other partygoers, police said.
Railsback also said that a shooting took place that was related to the gathering, but it occurred in the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s jurisdiction. No further information was immediately available regarding the shooting.
Detectives are being assisted by the Riverside County SheriffCoroner’s Office, police said. Police also believe there were videos taken of the party and the incident.
Anyone who may have relevant video or additional information regarding the investigation is urged to contact Detective Bryon Adcox at 951353-7134 or at JAdcox@RiversideCA.gov.
