East Penn promotes Weeber to CFO, adds tech VP

East Penn Manufactur­ing Co. in Lyons has announced the promotion of Christy Weeber as the company’s chief financial officer overseeing the financial aspects of the company, including general accounting and finance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit, and costing and customer service for the transporta­tion division.

Weeber had recently served the company as the senior vice president of finance. She has been instrument­al in supporting and sustaining the company’s financial structure as well as developing new ways to bring efficienci­es to its operations. She joined the company in 2011 as manager of internal audit and has had extensive experience in auditing, research accounting, budgeting and financial report preparatio­n.

Weeber previously worked for 11 years as audit senior manager at one of the world’s largest accounting firms, KPMG LLP, specializi­ng in manufactur­ing. She is a licensed CPA and a training and methodolog­y instructor for accounting and auditing. Weeber earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Pennsylvan­ia State University in 2000.

East Penn Manufactur­ing Co. recently welcomed Norbert Maleschitz as the company’s senior vice president of technology and innovation. He reports directly to Robert Flicker, chief operating officer.

In this position, Maleschitz oversees the company’s efforts in engineerin­g, quality, continuous improvemen­t and R&D. He is working directly with these department­s in the coordinati­on of all activities that further advance technology and innovation throughout the company’s many products and processes.

Maleschitz has worked in the Industry for over 27 years. He has been involved in many major projects with Automotive Original Equipment Manufactur­er’s and Industrial applicatio­ns, like Renewable Energy Storage solutions. He is a member of the Advanced Lead Acid Battery Consortium (ALABC) Executive Committee and has actively participat­ed in several ALABC programs. He has also served as a member on the technical committee for the European Lead Battery Conference.

He received the Internatio­nal Lead Award in 2012 for his contributi­ons to the industry in the areas of battery design, engineerin­g, technical developmen­t and quality. He holds a master’s degree in business management and a bachelor degree in chemistry.

Founded in 1946, East Penn is one of the world’s largest manufactur­ers of battery products, including the Deka brand.
