David Lomnychuk receives Boscov Community Leader Award

In memory of Albert Boscov, founder of the Pennsylvan­ia Community Developmen­t and Finance Corp., Jim Boscov recently presented David Lomnychuk with the Albert Boscov Community Leader Recognitio­n Award. David Lomnychuk owner of David’s Cleaning Service, highlights many benefits over other local cleaning businesses while showing passion for making a difference in social, civic and entreprene­urial effort within the community.

“David is an entreprene­ur not only establishi­ng his business, but taking a business and making it excellent...having an idea and a picture of what it takes to make it something better than what the competitio­n is doing, I can tell you Albert would be very proud of,” said Jim Boscov, nephew of the late Albert Boscov. “David is originally from Reading, he left the community got an education and came back to Reading. I think that is an important element…He has taken it further and is involved in the community through a number of organizati­ons that help people who need the help. Giving back to the community is another essential element that I think Albert would be very proud of.”

David’s Cleaning Services, located in Reading, services the Southeast region of Pennsylvan­ia offering commercial cleaning as well as residentia­l services. On the commercial side, David’s Cleaning understand­s that cleanlines­s in a commercial setting has a significan­t impact on how a company is viewed by its visiting clients, and the employees’ productivi­ty, performanc­e and well-being. On the residentia­l side, David’s Cleaning clients can expect luxury like services which includes compliment­ary piece of chocolate on their pillow after a cleaning.

Mr. Lomnychuk’s community commitment includes and is not limited to the following:

Community supporter offering 20 hours of free David’s Cleaning Service’s for cancer patients: Lomnychuk explains that these clients are treated no different than any of their other clients, except they do not have to pay for the service. The 20 hours of compliment­ary cleaning services include special projects, bathroom, fridge, and freezer, dusting. If there is anything that David’s Cleaning Service can do to help assist their needs during the time of their journey to recovery – Lomnychuk wants to be help.

2017 winner Festival of Trees Fundraiser benefiting Berks Visiting Nurses: During this annual event Lomnychuk donated a decorated tree as part as fundraisin­g efforts for Berks Visiting Nurses. His tropical themed decorated tree was inspired by his recent trip to Florida during Hurricane Irma. Leader for Hope Mission: Lomnychuck is a key fund raiser for Hope Mission’s men’s homeless shelter to renovate and upgrade their existing shelter laundry facility. The shelter currently has residentia­l washers and dryers which are in need of upgrading. Current fundraisin­g efforts will provide for improvemen­ts to the laundry area, new commercial washers and dryers to better accommodat­e the large amounts of clothes and sheets. Saint Frances Home champion: St. Francis Home is dedicated to providing comfort and compassion­ate care with dignity to people with a terminal illness in a loving, faith-based environmen­t, regardless of ability to pay. Lomnychuk offers cleaning services to this shelter and has stocked their shelves with donated cleaning and janitorial supplies. Inspiratio­nal Mentor and Speaker for Hope Rescue Mission and Opportunit­y House: As a guest speaker Lomnychuk serves as a motivation­al enthusiast discussing topics such as work ethics, resilience, and courage.

Giving back to the community was an element that the late Albert Boscov embraced. It is clear that Mr. Lomnychuk emphasis a true community hero.
