SCV athletes spend day committing to colleges

- By Haley Sawyer Signal Sports Editor

For Hart baseball players Cole Roederer and Bryce Collins, it seemed like National Signing Day would never come.

Both had committed to their respective colleges nearly three years ago –Roederer to UCLA and Collins to Arizona – and couldn’t be more eager to put pen to paper on Wednesday.

“Committing my freshman year and waiting almost three years, it’s exactly how I imagined it,” Roederer said. “My cheeks hurt after (from smiling).”

The two helped make up a group of four Indians baseball players that signed their National Letters of Intent.

“I think it shows that we work really hard,” Collins said of the number of Hart baseball signees. “We’ve all been there three, four years, we’ve all developed. The coaching staff does a great job of getting his players to the next level.”

Roederer and Collins are also hoping that the hefty number of signees on their team is an indicator for how the upcoming Foothill League season will unfold.

“We’re going to bring some rain this year,” Roederer said. “We’re definitely ready and we’re practicing hard and at signing day there’s four of us and we’re all good (NCAA Division-1) players and we’re all

ready to play.”

Here’s a list of Foothill League Athletes that signed on Wednesday. Valencia and West Ranch will have their official signing day ceremonies in April.
