FORT SMITH — Mr. Jimmy LaDon “Lead Player” Cheesman, 70, of Fort Smith, Ark., formerly of Waldron, Ark., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Feb. 26, 2018, at Peachtree Hospice-Fort Smith.

Jimmy was born Nov. 5, 1946, in Waldron, Ark., to Hazel Montgomery Cheesman and the late Jerry Cheesman.

Jimmy is survived by his mother: Hazel Cheesman, of Waldron, Ark.; nieces: Lisa Yandell and Kimberly Edwards, both of Waldron, Ark.; great-nephews: Ethan Yandell and Dakota Edwards, both of Waldron, Ark.; great-nieces: Sierra Waddle, of Yukon, Okla., Ashley Solley, of Waldron, Ark., Jessilyn Roper, of Clarksvill­e, Ark., DeLani Edwards, of Parks, Ark., and Delilah Edwards, of Fort Smith, Ark. Jimmy also leaves a host of other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Cheesman, and sister, Joanie Brown.

Jimmy was known in the CB radio world as “Lead Player.” He enjoyed his radios and made many friends through his hobby. His handle was chosen because his true passion was music. He was a very accomplish­ed guitarist. Jimmy loved playing country and gospel music. He also was an avid animal lover and always had a house and yard full of dogs and cats.

Jimmy was a kindhearte­d, gentle soul and was greatly loved by his family.

Pallbearer­s: Mike Yandell, Lenny Bailey, Ethan Yandell, Dakota Edwards and his nieces Lisa Edwards and Kim Edwards.

Celebratio­n of life: 1 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2018, entombment will follow, both at Woodlawn Memorial, 4211 State Line Road, Fort Smith, Ark.
