Man arrested for underage DUI
A Hot Springs man was charged with underage DUI after his vehicle left the roadway and landed in a ditch late Tuesday night.
Hunter Lee Keener, 19, who lists a Crystal
Hill Road address, was taken into custody at around 11:20 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of
Airport and Brunswick roads and charged with misdemeanor charges of underage DUI, punishable by up to one year in jail, and refusal to submit to a chemical test.
He was later released on
$1,000 bond and is set to appear Nov. 20 in Garland County District Court.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Gar- land County sheriff’s Deputy Josh Parker arrived at the intersection of Airport and Brunswick in reference to a one-vehicle wreck and located a red Ford F-150 in a ditch.
The driver, later identified as
Keener, reportedly told Parker he drove into the ditch while attempting to avoid colliding with a deer, but Parker allegedly noticed a strong odor of intoxicants on his person. Parker asked Keener if he had been drinking, and
Keener allegedly admitted to having a single beer earlier in the evening.
Keener failed to pass any portion of the standardized field sobriety tests and was placed into custody.
