Mary E.G. Iverson

Mary Ellen (Grue) Iverson passed away Sept. 29, 2017, at the age of 85.

She was born in Webster, S.D., on Oct. 15, 1931, the only child of Clarence and Charlotte (Schilling) Grue. She was a graduate of Luther College, Decorah, Iowa, with a master’s degree from State University of New York in Potsdam, N.Y. Her husband of 54 years, Vernon C. Iverson, died in 2005. She moved to Hot Springs in 2006 and was a member of Women’s Welcome Club, PEO Chapter DD, several bridge groups, Garland County Republican Women and was an ESL tutor. At Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, she served as an assisting minister and lector.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Sherman Iverson.

She is survived by four children: Mark (Kathleen), Hamburg, Ark., Paul (Barbara), Warner, N.H., Ruth (L.M.) Jester, Atlanta, Texas, and Annemarie Iverson, New York City; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law, Evelyn Iverson, of Eau Claire, Wis.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church with funeral service to follow at noon. Burial will be in Concordia Lutheran Cemetery in Rosholt, Wis.

Memorials may be given to the Iverson Scholarship at Luther College, Decorah, Iowa, or to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Stephen Garrison, Nathan Iverson, Ben Iverson, Zach Iverson, Erik Iverson, Francesco Finali and Giacomo Finali.
