GLENWOOD — Ray Lee Owens passed away peacefully at his home in Glenwood, Ark., on Monday, June 5, 2017.

Ray was born in Clarksvill­e, Texas, March 5, 1929, to Ruby and Roy Owens. He served honorably as a U.S. Marine during the Korean War. After completing his service, he became a master carpenter by trade, working in Houston, Texas, and Hot Springs, Ark. He married Betty Lou Terry in 1962, celebratin­g his 54th anniversar­y before she preceded him in death in September 2016.

Ray was known for his active involvemen­t in the service of others. As a member of Hot Springs First Baptist Church, he assisted at every opportunit­y, such as being a Deacon in his congregati­on to driving a bus for youth groups. He was regarded as an honest, hard worker who waited up for his children to come home with a Bible in his lap. He considered himself a history enthusiast, never gave up on winning the lottery and never passed up a chance to go out for breakfast. Ray was a 32nd degree Mason and remained a deeply loyal friend, husband and father.

Ray is survived by his three children, Rick, Corey and Stefani; seven grandchild­ren and two great grandchild­ren.

A private memorial service will be held by his family. Condolence­s may be sent in care of Rick Owens, P.O. Box 46, Glenwood, AR 71943.
