Home Instead Senior Care

-

In addition to providing 24hour service availability to senior adults in the community, Home Instead Senior Care ( HISC) encourages partners, including local nursing homes and assisted living facilities to bring joy to isolated seniors each Christmas season with the “Be A Santa To A Senior” program. HISC actively engages residential facility social workers and case managers to refer lonely and isolated senior citizens to the Christmas program with a gift request. Requests for a new pair of slippers, fuzzy pajamas, books, chocolate and puzzles have been fulfilled by the generosity of thousands of local individuals, families, groups and organizations over the previous nine years the Be A Santa To A Senior program has been sponsored by Home Instead Senior Care.

Home Instead leads the way in community education programs focused on the elderly population in the community. Programming is offered to the public free of charge including “Alzheimer’s Friendly Business” training and certification, “Protecting Seniors from Fraud” presentation to civic clubs, and “Alzheimer’s Family Caregiver” training to families. Each year, Home Instead Senior Care actively participates in the Alzheimer’s Arkansas Walk in downtown Hot Springs and supports efforts to combat the disease by raising research funding.

Home Instead Senior Care is an outstanding example of a local business filling a growing need in the community with quality service using the local available workforce. Arkansas has a larger older population as compared to the nation, however Garland County has a significantly larger older population than both the state and the nation. Persons 65 years and older living in Garland County in 2014 comprised 21.7 percent of the population as compared to a low 15.7 percent for the state of Arkansas which was only 1 percent higher than the nation.

Home Instead Senior Care understands that as a rural area experiencing both aging in place and in- migration of retirees, Hot Springs will continue to need quality elder care services well into the future. Franchise owners, Krista and Charles Underwood are committed to providing exceptional in- home care to the elderly who live in the community.
