Celebrate Fall at Garvan Gardens

-

Families can take a trip to Garvan Woodland Gardens, take pictures among the fall displays, enjoy the children’s activities and relax outdoors with a special fall lunch during the first “Celebrate Fall in the Gardens!” event from 9 a. m. to noon on Oct. 17.

Garvan Gardens will open at 9 a. m. with candy for trickortreaters ages 12 and younger ( costumes encouraged), a pumpkin patch with a free pie- sized pumpkin for the first 200 children, a spooky “James the Train” for climbing fun, and a special treasure map for children to hunt for “Garvan rocks” to keep, inspired by Doodlestones creator Bryan Payne.

Treasure hunters may find a Garvan rock hidden in a bush, along a trail or under a garden bench. Garvan rocks are limited to one rock per child. “People all around the world have begun to take action using the ( Doodlestones) project as inspiration. Many of these people haven’t ever tried drawing before, but still have found it rewarding to participate. Most people join in simply just by doodling on rocks and hiding them in their town,” a news release said.

The Chipmunk Café will be serving up fall treats including caramel apples, pecan cheesecake pie, cranberry apple chicken salad, mixed green fall salad with pears, walnuts and blue cheese, and a special kid’s meal ( flutter nutter sandwich, chips, cookie and drink) for $ 4.95.

Admission is $ 15 for adults, $ 5 for children ages 6- 12 and free for children up to 5 years old. Members will be admitted for free.
