Employees tour new Moreau Family Health facility project
MOREAU, N.Y. >> Hudson Headwaters is opening a new, larger Moreau Family Health facility later this year as the growing health network expands.
Hudson Headwaters Health Network, which stretches from Moreau all the way north to the Canadian border, is aiming to expand its reach further into Saratoga County with a new Moreau Family Health facility, an $11 million project right off of Northway Exit 17.
Prior to its anticipated opening in December, staff members had the opportunity to tour the currently under construction future Moreau Family Health, located at 1299 Rt. 9, on Wednesday after their shift.
The employees, who say they’ve outgrown the current long-operating Moreau Family Health building located about a mile away at 1448 Rt. 9, seemed eager about their new workplace during the construction site walkthrough.
“It’s like Christmas,” exclaimed Moreau Family Health RN Practice Leader Joann Fuller, who’s had a blueprint of the facility hanging on the wall of her shared and overcrowded office for months.
“We’re so excited,” added Fuller, who’s worked at Moreau Family Health for nearly 20 years.
During the tour, Fuller said that the new building is everything she has been dreaming about. The extra space will allow the Moreau Family Health to work more efficiently, and patients will be more comfortable, she explained.
With the upcoming move, Moreau Family Health will
triple in size. The new 15,600-square-foot health center will feature 18 exam rooms, one procedure room, and two behavioral health/ consult rooms as well as office space and a large waiting area.
Here, Moreau Family Health will continue offering comprehensive primary care for all ages, including women’s health, integrated behavioral health, and social work support.
The entire facility, including a portion that will be operated by Glens Falls Hospital, will be about 25,000 square feet.
Ahead of the new Moreau Family Health center’s official debut this winter, Hudson Headwaters Health Network CEO Tucker Slingerland, MD commented on the organization’s expansion.
“Hudson Headwaters is committed to providing the best health care and access to that care for everyone in our local communities. The new Moreau Family Health facility will offer an expanded, modern and thoughtfully designed space for both patients and staff,” he said. “We’re also excited about the ability to access Glens Falls Hospital’s laboratory and radiology services on-site which will ensure that patients have easy access to these important services under one roof.”
Of the not-for-profit health system’s 18 community health centers, Moreau Family Health will be the fourth largest.
Throughout the greater North Country region, Hudson Headwaters Health Network is growing by adding new health centers and expanding by renovating many current health centers with a mission to provide the best health care and access to that care, for everyone in its communities.
Hudson Headwaters Health Network establishes within communities that are lacking easy access to primary care physicians – often working with local town officials to bring primary care services into a community.
A Federally Qualified Health Center, Hudson Headwaters provides healthcare services to all people within its service area, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.
Hudson Headwaters Health Network special projects leader Christine Morine envisions the new Moreau Family Health center drawing lots of new patients from northern Saratoga County.
“This is going to be great for [Saratoga County] patients,” she said, “It’s just going to be easier for them to get here in a matter of minutes.”
New patients are being accepted. Community members are encouraged to call Moreau Family Health at 518-761-6961 or visit www. hhhn.org to learn more.
