Ruth “Peg” E. Thelen
WILTON - Ruth “Peg” E. Thelen, formerly of SchuyHospital. ler Drive, Saratoga Springs, passed away Monday, June 12, 2017 at Saratoga She was 99.
Born on January 18, 1918 in Schenectady, NY, she is the daughter of the late Harold Clark and Agnes Greene Bailey and was a graduate of Nott TerforSaraneerace High School. A mer member of Court McLaughlin 422 Catholic Daughters of the Americas, she had volunteered for many years for the toga Hospital Guild. In her younger years, Peg enjoyed creating works of art and had tried her hand at dlepoint, knitting, crewel and even watercolors. She continued to be an avid reader, drawn especially to mysteries, and bingo player throughout her life.
In addition to her ents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Richard T. Thelen, who died March 3, 1993 and two grandchildren, Richard Dyer and Heather Dyer Daniels.
Spending time with ily was important to Peg. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia (RobgrandchilSue ert) Dyer of Clifton Park, Carolyn (Joseph) Bove of Rutland, VT, her son John “Jack” (Jerene) Thelen of Gansevoort; 7 dren, Michael Spencer, Daniel (Lynn) Spencer, (Roger) Dandurand, Kathy Spencer, Christine (Marco) Tonizzo, Amy (John) Digreat-grandchildren. With her acute ry, Peg remembered, and spoke highly of, the people she came to know over her lifetime. Her stories of life during the Great Dewere pression and WWII the focus of many a grandchild’s school project. She was very fond of the staff at Home of the Good Shepherd in Wilton where she most recently lived.
Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery, West Avenue.
