SCREENING: To celebrate Major League Baseball’s Opening Day, the Saratoga Jewish Community Arts and Temple Sinai, with a generous grant from the Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York, presents a screening of “The Life and Times of Hank Greenberg,” on Sunday, April 2, at 7 p.m. The 1998 documentary, directed and written by Aviva Kempner, tells the story of the Hall of Fame first baseman for the Detroit Tigers who chose not to play on Yom Kippur during the heated 1934 pennant race and experienced anti-Semitic abuse when anti-Semitism and racism were prevalent throughout the country. “Medjuorje, A Personal Journey in Photography and Illustration” a solo art exhibition at the Malta Community Center from April 1- 28, with a presentation by author and artist Eva Marie Loucks on Tuesday, April 4, at 7 p.m. Her talk will focus on the 100th Anniversary of Fatima and messages of Medjugorje and will include a power point presentation on Medjugorje. Loucks will have copies of her book for sale and signing that evening. Medjugorje, a small town in Herzegovina, is an extraordinarily spiritual place where millions of people of all faiths have journeyed and have experienced conversions. MOREAU LAKE STATE PARK:
10 a.m. to noon, Waterfall Trail Hike, traversing the newest trail in the park. The short hike is a little over a mile long one way and connects the Western Ridge trail to Lake Bonita. This trail follows a brook with some small waterfalls; along the trail are some beautiful rock outcroppings. Reservations are required with 24 hour advanced notice, please call 793-0511. 4:30 p.m., Inclusive Nature Walk. This class is geared directly towards school aged children who have IDD, are on the spectrum or have an IEP. Class will consist of a 10-15 minute presentation with many visual aids followed by a trail walk, lasting about 40 minutes. The Wilton Heritage Society is celebrating their 50th Anniversary this year. Plans are already underway for the celebration. Thursday, April 6 BROOKSIDE MUSEUM:
Long Room Lecture, “Mt. McGregor Through the Years,” 7 p.m. Brookside hosts Ben Kemp of Grant’s Cottage, who will share the history of Mount McGregor from the Colonial era to the present. Most famous for being the location where President Grant passed away, the mountain in the town of Wilton has also been home to early settlers, a large hotel, a tuberculosis sanitarium and a prison. Preregistration is not required. The program is free, but donations are gratefully accepted. Brookside Museum is located at the intersection of Front Street, Charlton Street and Fairground Avenue in Ballston Spa.
