Screeners will judge movies at 2-day short film fest

The Redlands Art Associatio­n's Redlands Cinema Classic film series is returning this fall with the Manhattan Short Film Festival in place of the usual spring or fall series of several foreign films.

The 10 finalists in the Manhattan Short Film Festival will be screened 6 p.m. Wednesday and 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Look Cinemas (formerly Studio Movie Grill), 340 N. Eureka St., Redlands. Runtime

is 2 hours, 15 minutes.

Tickets are $25 and include a post-screening reception with snacks and beverages. Tickets are available at the Redlands Art Associatio­n Gallery, 215 E. State St., and at Look Cinemas.

Proceeds from the Redlands screenings will benefit Redlands Art Associatio­n's art education programs and scholarshi­ps.

The 10 films are “Death By Handshake” from the United States; “Ganef,” United Kingdom;

“Bad Omen,” Afghanista­n; “Rough,” Northern Ireland; “Archibald's Syndrome,” France; “The Kicksled Choir,” Norway; “Closed to the Light,” Italy; “Out of Time.” France; “Aurora,” United States; and “Monsieur Cachemire,” Canada.

They are the finalists chosen from 970 submission­s from 70 countries, according to a news release.

Those who attend screenings of the films in Redlands and around the world will receive ballots that allow them to vote for the best film and best actor.

Votes will be sent to Manhattan Short Film Festival headquarte­rs. The winner will be announced Oct. 4.
