Rich Badowski Blues band has Saturday gig
Friday, Black-eyed Sally’s is hosting a Road to Memphis fundraiser, as Easy Baby prepares for the International Blues Challenge. They will be competing in the ‘world’s biggest blues gathering.” There will be a fine week of bands from around the world.
Chicago blues artist Lurrie Bell will be at BlackEyed Sally’s on Saturday. This is a blues event that brings in one of the City’s premier guitarist to Hartford. Son of harmonica legend Carey Bell, spent his childhood in the company of many of the big names in blues world. They all helped to shape and school him in the blues, but none as much as his father’s long-time employer Muddy Waters.
He lived for a time in Mississippi and Alabama, playing mostly in the church. At 14, he moved back to Chicago and continued to play in church as well as forming his first blues band while attending high school.
Since the onset of the new millennium, Bell’s profile has been steadily rising. At last count Lurrie Bell has now appeared on over 50 plus recordings either as leader or featured sideman. Lurrie Bell’s elegant and intense guitar playing and passionate vocals have made him a favorite at clubs and festivals around the world and have earned him a reputation as one of the “leading lights” in the future of the blues.

Doyle Bramhall II and Althea Grace are touring through the area. Saturday, they play Infinity Music Hall Norfolk. Tuesday, they will be at FTC Stage One. The duo starts on Friday in New York at Daryl's House.
As the son of the late Texas music legend Doyle Bramhall, he was raised in a home filled with the blues and rock ’n’ roll styles indigenous to Texas. At age 18, Doyle Bramhall II was recruited by the Fabulous Thunderbirds to hold down the guitar slot. Since that early break he has stuck out as a solo artist, performed as a member of Roger Waters' band, produced albums by Willie Nelson and Sheryl Crow, and, most notably, settled into a comfortable role as Eric Clapton's not-so-secret weapon and right-hand man.
Bramhall II is also a distinctive vocalist, composers and producers in contemporary music.
FTC Warehouse has The Subdudes on Thursday. The Subdudes cover the field with their music. They are the kings of the subtle sort of groove that sneaks up and gets you hooked before you know it. The Blues Jam is on once again. Jason Arnold, Paul Dabrowski and Steve will be hosting THE Blues Jam on Sunday Nov 12 at The Old Well in Simsbury. This will be the first blues jam at this spot.
Connecticut resident and one of the founding members of The Allman Brothers Band, Jaimoe was presented the Harriett Tubman Medal of Freedom last week. Jaimoe was recognized for his role in progressing the fight for civil rights. The Allman Brothers Band was one of the first integrated bands to find success in the segregated South, and went on to transcend the South and become an international band.
This is not the first time Jaimoe has been the recipient of a major award for his work and influence in the music world and beyond. He won a Grammy Award in with the Allman Brothers Band. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and earned a GrammyLifetime Achievement award with the Allmans in 2012. Jaimoe also has two Historic Markers on The Mississippi Blues Trail, honoring his role in the local and international worlds of blues and R&B.
Jaimoe now performs on tour with his group, Jaimoie’s Jasssz Band.
