Police: 2 men attempt to force woman into car
TORRINGTON >> Two men are in custody after police said they attempted to force a woman into a car near Iowa Street and Funston Avenue in Torrington early Friday.
Police received a report of a disturbance near Funston Avenue and Iowa Street at approximately 2 a.m. When police ar-
rived at the scene, the suspects fled the area but were detained moments later and taken to police headquarters, police said.
Phouvadone Soundara, 40, of 543 Greenwoods Road, Torrington, Kim Keo Saelee, 38, of 96 Yorkshire Street, and Brittany Tiffany, 27, of 82 Maple Hollow Road, New Hartford, were arrested in connection with the incident, police reported.
After investigating the incident, police were told by witnesses that Soundara and Saelee “brandished” a handgun at Tiffany while trying to get her into the car.
While chasing the two men, police found a black 9mm Sig Sauer gun behind a house at 57 Iowa Street. The weapon was loaded, police said. Both men are convicted felons and prohibited from owning firearms, police said.
Police say they discovered that the two men knew Tiffany prior to the Friday morning incident.
Soundara was charged with first-degree criminal attempt to commit first-degree kidnapping with a firearm, first-degree unlawful restraint, criminal use of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm (convicted felon), second-degree breach of peace, and interfering with police. He was held on $250,000 court set bond.
Saelee was charged with criminal attempt to commit first-degree kidnnapping with a firearm, first-degree unlawful restraint, criminal possession of a firearm (convicted felon), second-degree breach of peace, and interfering with police. He was held on $250,000 court set bond.
Tiffany was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, and interfering with police, according to the release, and released from custody.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
