PITTSTOWN SENIORS:
The regular monthly meeting for the Town of Pittstown Seniors is November 6, 2019. Meetings are held at the Raymertown Volunteer Fire Co. located on Mason Lane in the town of Raymertown. Meeting begins at 11:45with a potluck lunch and business meeting follows. November meeting is the election of officers for the 2020year. We have been going and going all season and winding down for our winter break. We do not meet in the months of January and February. Local short-story writer Dave Sylvester discusses the short story form, looking at how writers handle plot, character and theme in their writing. Each week we will read and discuss two stories by well-known masters of the form: Lori Moore, John Cheever, Sherman Alexi, Jhumpa Lahiri, Richard Wright, Alice Munro, Raymond Carver, Margaret Atwood and more. Eric Durr will present a program on DDay / Normandy. Durr has served as Director of Public Affairs for the New York State Division of Military and Naval Affairs since 2007. He served 28years in the Active Army, Army Reserve and Army National Guard as an armor officer, division plans officer, operations officer, public affairs officer and civil affairs officer. He commanded a tank company, a headquarters company and a tank battalion in the National Guard and also worked as a Department of the Army civilian, a newspaper reporter. Coffee and refreshments are served after the meeting, followed by bingo and cards. The hall is handicap accessible, with sufficient parking. The Poestenkill Seniors hold catered luncheons, clamsteams and fish fries at the hall and also at various restaurants. Best of all they go on bus trips to casinos and other points of interest. PIEROGHI SALE: Christ the Savior Church, 349 Eastline Rd., Ballston Lake is holding a pieroghi sale on Tuesday, Nov. 12th.
