COHOESHOES - Marois,Mi Gertrude (Trude) entered into eternal rest on November 19, 2017 following a prolonged battle with cancer. “Gert” was the daughter of Paul J. Stronski and Agnes Spinaci and the beloved wife of Dr. Robert L. Marois. In addition to her husband, Trude is survived by her four children: Judith (Richard) Barrett, Robert Paul Marois, Janet Neysa Smith and Joli Ellen McKay,McKa and eleven grand-grand children and seven greatgrand­children.

Trude was acclaimed as an excellent teacher and was certified to teach from elementary up to and including high school. Trude was a 1952 graduate of Cohoes High School. She earned Bachelor of Arts and Masters degrees from SUNY Albany where she achieved licensure to teach high school and attended Russell Sage College for licensure to teach elementary school. Subsequent to the completion of her Masters degree, Trude traveled to Europe and the British Isles. Trude and Bob loved train travel and traveled throughout the United States and Canada on all of the major train routes.

Trude had many hobbies. Among them were sewing quilts for various family members and playing her parlor organ. She attended Tai Chi classes for seven years and was involved with aerobic swimming classes for ten years at the Cohoes Community Center. She was an original member of the Cohoes Red Hat Society, and was recognized as a Teacher ofthe Year in 1996.

Trude taught high school in Mechanicvi­lle. Following the birth of her four children, she taught at St. Augustine’s school fourth grade and St. Agnes middle school in Cohoes. She was noted for directing plays and assembly programs.

Trude was also involved with Faith Formation at the former Sacred Heart Parish in Cohoes as well as serving on the Parish Council. She also served on the Board of Directors of the Cohoes library as well as Cohoes Counseling and Care.

Trude had two favorite charities: Franciscan Friars of the Atonement in Altamont and Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in Latham.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Church, Cohoes, on Wednesday at 11am interment will take place at Saratoga National Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 9-11 at Holy Trinity Church.

Family and friends are invited to gather at VanSchaick Island Country Club at 2pm immediatel­y following the burial.
