Janet was born in Blue Island,

Illinois on Jan. 25, 1948. She was the oldest of 7 children born to Charles Tarquino Jr. and

(Tarquino) Nugent. Together they lived in Culver, where Janet took a position in the dining hall at Culver Academies. She remained at the Academy as head cook for 42 years prior to retirement.

Janet is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Tarquino) Nugent, Culver/indianapolis; granddaughter, Brooke (Brandon) Smith, great-granddaughters, Bella and Novalee, Indianapolis; brothers, Andy Tarquino, Nashport, Ohio; Clifford (Jane) Mcvicker, Culver; sisters, Nora Nugent, Indianapolis; Cindy (Joe) Noah, Culver; and sister-in-law, Leslie Mcvicker, Indianapolis.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Ryan (Vizzy) Nugent; father, Charles Tarquino, Jr.; mother, Pauline (Nauseda) Mcvicker; brother, Russell Mcvicker; sister, Elaine Mcvicker; and sister-in-law, Sandra Mcvicker.

Janet had a large family with a number of nieces and nephews; as well as an abundance of friends by whom she will be missed terribly. She had a little sidekick, her fur baby, Benji, that is already missing her. In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing on the lake with the kids. She also enjoyed the lake itself (Lake Maxinkuckee), yard sales, flowers and shopping in general. She also enjoyed spending time with her nephew Curtis Mcvicker. Some people would say they were each other’s, “Ride or Die.”

A time to gather with the family will be held at the Odom Funeral Home in Culver, Indiana, on Saturday, Jan. 8. Visiting hours will be from 11:30 – 2:30 p.m. EST. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 pm EST. Those attending are asked to wear a face mask. Burial will be in the Culver Masonic Cemetery following the funeral.
