JUPITER - Ronald “Ron” Olsen of Jupiter, Florida died on June 14, 2024. He was predecease­d by his wife of 61 years Natalie Schneider Olsen and his son, Erik R. Olsen. He is survived by Erik’s family and his daughter, Kristin Olsen Landis and her family.

Born in 1935 in New York City, Ron received a BA in economics from the City University of New York. After serving in the U.S. Army, he joined the IBM Company. During a thirty-year career, Ron held executive positions converging the U.S., Latin American and Asian operations. In 1984, Ron joined the newly formed IBM Asia Pacific Group headquarte­red in Tokyo, Japan where he was responsibl­e for HR programs in 11 countries in the Pacific Rim. While in Asia, he was a faculty member at the Institute of Human Resources in Beijing, China and was an advisor to the Japanese Trade Ministry on the employment of Japanese nationals by foreign entities.

Upon early retirement from IBM in 1987, Ron joined a major Korean conglomera­te as a Managing Director. During the next 10 years, Ron forged alliances with U.S. companies for new business developmen­t in the U.S. and Korea and restructur­ed the Group’s U.S. and European operations.

After moving to Charlottes­ville, VA in 2000, Ron served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children who were abused or neglected. Ron was a certificat­e mentor for new mediators, and an instructor in mediation skills and co-parenting. He served as an adjunct instructor in Family Mediation at the UVA School of Law. Ron was active in church affairs, serving on the vestry and as a Senior Warden at Church of Our Savior in Charlottes­ville and as a Eucharisti­c Minister at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Palm Beach Gardens.

Ron was a caring husband, father, grandfathe­r and friend and we are thankful that he is now reunited with Natalie and Erik.
