Dolphins reload with edge rushers for playoffs
MIAMI GARDENS — The Dolphins are adding three — count 'em, three!—
veteran pass rushers in advance of the Saturday night playoff game at Kansas City.
Miami is adding:
Justin Houston:
games, 112 sacks.
Bruce Irvin:
games, 56.5 sacks.
Malik Reed: 27 years old, 63 games, 16 sacks.
Reed previously signed with the Dolphins in free agency and has played for defensive coordinator Vic Fangio in Denver.
Reed played four games with the Raiders this season, recording three
hhhtackles.
Houston joins former Chiefs Melvin Ingram and Emmanuel Ogbah in Miami's pass rush rotation.
These players were signed because Miami has sustained devastating season-ending injuries to Jaelan Phillips, Bradley Chubb, Andrew Van Ginkel and Cameron Goode.
Houston played seven games for the Panthers this season, with 0.5 sacks, but he did have 9.5 sacks for the Ravens last season.
Houston once had a 22-sack season with the Chiefs, though that was nine years ago.
Irvin played two games with the Lions this season, recording one sack, though he had 3.5 sacks for the Seahawks last season.
