Fisherman’s Wharf vote postponed
JUPITER — The Town Council’s final vote on approval of Fisherman’s Wharf — the waterfront condominiums on the west side of the Intracoastal Waterway — has been postponed.
Planners asked for the postponement because Mayor Todd Wodraska will not be at Tuesday’s meeting.
”We want the full council to be voting,” said George Gentile, planner for the project on five vacant acres across from Harbourside Place.
The condos, which would include workforce housing, are expected to start at $1.3 million.
The tallest condominium for Fisherman’s Wharf would be about 64 feet, higher than the town code allowance of 40 feet.
By comparison, the parking garage and hotel at Harbourside Place, across the Intracoastal Waterway from the proposed condos, is about 65 feet.
Denial is recommended by the town’s planning staff, which claims Fisherman’s Wharf is too high and the architecture does not comply with the nearby buildings.
Fisherman’s Wharf calls for three condominium buildings, one six stories tall with 12 units.
The other two buildings would be five stories, each with 10 units. The condos each would be about 2,400 square feet.
A one-acre portion of the property would be a natural preserve.
A fourth building, which would be two to three stories, would have four townhouses for workforce housing and three live/work units.
