GREENACRES — A 53-year-old man is accused of molesting three children who were spending the night at his Greenacres-area home some time last year, Palm Beach County Sheriff ’s Office records state.

The children, who were 14, 12 and 10 when they spoke with sheriff ’s authorities in February, said Cary Anderson inappropriately touched them while they slept on couches in his living room. He’d allegedly molested at least two of those children — whom he appears to have known through a church — before, records state. The name and location of that church is redacted from sheriff ’s office records.

Anderson, who lives west of Greenacres and just east of Florida’s Turnpike, was arrested Thursday on three counts of lewd behavior with a minor about a month after authorities filed charges against him, court records show.

Anderson was released Friday from the Palm Beach County Jail on a $105,000 surety bond. A judge ordered that he not have contact with anyone under the age of 18 or the victims’ families. A number listed in public records to Anderson has been disconnected, and his attorney listed in court records, Kai Li Fouts, did not return a request for comment.

The children told sheriff ’s authorities Anderson’s wife was asleep in a bedroom when he reportedly molested them. The inappropriate touching only stopped when Anderson suspected the children were awake, they said. One child pretended to have a nightmare. Another turned away from him.

They didn’t initially tell anyone because they were afraid. Someone, it is unclear who, asked them if they had been inappropriately touched. That’s when they shared what had happened, according to an arrest report.

Somebody reportedly wrote Anderson a letter telling him he needs therapy. Somebody also reportedly wrote his wife a letter about the alleged molestations.

Sheriff ’s authorities said Anderson refused to provide a statement about the allegations.

Anderson does not appear to have a criminal history in Palm Beach County.
