Roxy’s Pub manager accused of $14,950 theft
WEST PALM BEACH — A manager for a downtown West Palm Beach bar is accused of stealing nearly $15,000 in cash during the past year, according to a city police arrest report.
Jeffrey Heron, 38, was arrested Sunday after the owner of Roxy’s Pub on Clematis Street told police that Heron used manager codes to remove petty cash from the business fraudulently. Heron, who lives in Jupiter, faces charges of grand theft and fraud. He was released from custody Sunday night after posting $6,000 bond.
According to the arrest report, Heron committed 77 fraudulent transactions from December 2016 through October 2017, taking between $100 and $300 from the cash register at a time to pay what the report called “guest bartenders.”
The fraudulent transactions totaled $14,950, police said.
The owner told police that Roxy’s pays guest bartenders through regular tip-sharing. Heron reportedly used his access code through March, then began using another manager’s code in April.
The second manager’s code was used on days and in locations — such as a rooftop bar at Roxy’s — where Heron did not work. The transactions occurred late at night and early Sunday mornings, the report said.
Following his arrest, Heron admitted to making unauthorized cash withdrawals, the report said. He advised he had been running the scheme for years, police said.
