Arm all legislators, citizens in Capitol

- MARK STOLZBERG, BOYNTON BEACH BARBARA POWELL, ROYAL PALM BEACH

Many of our state legislators should be considered self-sacrificing heroes for advocating “open-carry” as well as guns on college campuses. These freedoms are well on their way to becoming law. But our legislators have denied themselves the same right to carry at the very place that they spend their workdays: in the legislative chambers.

They should not be denied this fundamental right, and it should be up to us voters to give it to them, despite their willingness to work in such a dangerous gun-free environment.

To reward them for being so eager to provide us, and our loved ones, with the safety of having guns on every college campus, street corner, automobile and delicatessen, we need to begin an initiative to provide them with the same rights they have so graciously afforded all of us taxpaying, voting citizens.

We should begin looking into initiating a statewide referendum that will mandate permission for all citizens to carry loaded guns into every part of our state’s legislative buildings.

This would be a means of increasing the safety of our beloved legislators — just as they are trying to do for our children who are trying to obtain an education on any Florida college campus. mercial vehicles, such as large dump trucks and semi-tractor trailers that use Southern Boulevard.

Finally, this project is not compatible with the character and living conditions of the existing neighborhood.
