CLOCKVILLE >> Kenneth W. Smith, 82, formerly of Clockville, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica, following a brief illness.

He was born on Sept. 10, 1934, in Canastota, son of the late Dewitt and Knola ( Weller) Smith.

Ken lived in Clockville most of his life, graduating from Canastota High School.

He married Joyce M. Bellinger on May 18, 1957, in Clockville.

Ken was a veteran of the US Army.

He and his wife, Joyce, wintered in St. Cloud, Fla., for 10 years and lived there for another 10 years. He has lived in Clinton for the past 2 ½ years.

Ken worked for Syracuse Supply for 40 years, beginning as a diesel mechanic and retiring as shop foreman in 1996.

He was a member of the Antique Tractor Club of CNY. Ken was a life member of the NRA, and a staunch supporter of the 2nd Amendment. He was, also, a member of the Oneida Rifle Club, and a former member and Range Safety Officer of the Central Florida Rifle & Gun Club in Orlando, Fla. Ken enjoyed hunting, shooting, reloading, and boating on Alligator Lake in Florida.

He was a member of the Clockville United Methodist Church.

Surviving besides his wife, Joyce, are: one son and daughter-inlaw, Richard and Barbara Smith of Clockville; a daughter and sonin-law, Deborah and Robert Donahue of Charlotte, Vt.; two grandchild­ren, Stephen Donahue, and Brandon Donahue; and two cousins, Lois and Phil Pynn of Jamesville, and Jim and Wendy Kluge of Lancaster, Pa.

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James St., Canastota. Pastor Abigail Browka of the Clockville United Methodist Church will officiate. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, prior to the service, from noon to 3 p.m. at the funeral home. In his memory, contributi­ons may be made to the Oneida Rifle Club, P.O. Box 411, Oneida, N.Y. 13421, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
